2004 BILLBOARD SONG CONTEST WINNER
John Stowers’ song “Jimmy’s
Song” is a winner in the R&B/Blues category of
the 2004
Billboard World Song Contest. The Billboard contest
is one of the largest and best established songwriting competitions
around. There are over 20,000 entries worldwide and
only 3 winners in each of eleven different categories. John
will be traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take part in the
awards ceremony which will be held downtown at the Historic
Cain’s Ballroom on the 24th of this month (July) |

PERFORMING AT THE 2003 DURANGO SONG EXPO.
Based on the strength of his acoustic/vocal demos,
John Stowers has been chosen to be one of the songwriters to perform
on the opening night of the Durango Song Expo in Durango, Colorado,
taking place October 11th - 13th. The event is well attended by
both “up and coming” performing songwriters and music
industry guests/panelists. Some industry folks are calling it "the
premier songwriting event in America."
RELEASE OF THE WESTERN BEAT COMPILATION CD – VOLUME
ONE
John Stowers’ song “Everything You Do” to
be included on the Western Beat CD.
On September 6th, 2001, Western Beat is celebrating its 10th anniversary
and the release of a commemorative CD, Western Beat–Volume One.
Western Beat is a monthly songwriter’s showcase that takes place
the first Thursday of every month at Highland Grounds in Hollywood. It
has gained a large and loyal following as well as a great reputation
as a showcase for some of the finest writers and singers in Los Angeles.
Performing on the 6th will be the following artists: LAUREN ELLIS, MATTHEW
LEE, JOHN STOWERS, WENDY WALDMAN, JUDYTOY, RANDY SHARP, KERRY CANDAELE,
FREEBO, EDDIE CUNNINGHAM, NAKED TO THE WORLD, REEVA HUNTER, THE MOJO
MONKEYS, ROBIN PEARL, THE BUM STEERS, PAUL MARSHALL and TERESA JAMES
(LOWEN & NAVARRO and MARK ISLAM appear on the CD but are unable to
perform that night).
